Vote for Taylor Green for Elgin School Board on April 2nd

ABOUT TAYLOR
My name is Taylor Green and I am running for Elgin School Board. First off, I am a dedicated husband, father, and Christ-follower. Those are my top priorities that will remain unchanged no matter the circumstances. Professionally, I am a banker and have served in a leadership position at Liberty National Bank for almost 10 years. Helping to direct and lead an organization of 150 employees has provided me with a lot of hands-on experience that I believe will translate well as a School Board Member. As a volunteer, I have spent the past 8 years dedicating my time and expertise directly to the education sector. Serving as a Board Member for the Great Plains Technology Center Foundation (2 years), Lawton Public School Foundation (6 years), and currently as the Vice President for Elgin School Education Foundation (2 years). In 2020, I was appointed by Governor Stitt to serve on the Oklahoma State Accountancy Board. While this does not lie in the education sector, it has allowed me to experience first-hand what it is like to lead and govern a state agency from a board member's perspective. At the end of the day, my volunteer passion has always been toward education and helping these organizations support the schools, teachers, and students that they support.
So let me back up and tell you a little about myself! I was born and raised in east Lawton, just 15 miles from Elgin. Attending Lawton Public Schools and graduating from MacArthur High School in 2007. I am 34 years old and while I still consider myself a young man, I believe that I have always tried to put myself in a position to learn and grow in any position that I am blessed to be in. I went on to receive a bachelor's degree in Business Management from Oklahoma State in 2012. I guess you could say that I am the definition of Bedlam because even though I graduated as a Cowboy, my heart has always been dedicated to the Sooners! I was lucky enough to meet the love of my life, Jayce, in Stillwater and after a few years of dating, we married in 2015. Jayce and I started our family in Lawton but ultimately decided that Elgin was where we wanted to plant our roots, and on Keeney Road we did just that in 2018. It is hands down the best decision we ever made! We have three wild kids, two sons and one daughter and they most definitely keep us young and on our toes. Our oldest is in first grade, and our middle will start pre-k in the fall. As a family, we love to travel and enjoy our time together. Our kids are always playing sports and over the past 5 years, I have been lucky enough to not only be called Dad, but also Coach! It has brought me so much joy and fulfillment to coach both of our son's baseball and basketball teams. This has allowed us to meet countless families over the years and make so many friends. We are invested in this community and will have our kids in this school district for the next 15+ years.
Being elected as a School Board Member is something that I have been patiently pursuing for almost three years. This volunteer opportunity is not for everyone, but it is something that I have aspired to do for a long time. My opinion is we have a wonderful school system with administrators and a board that deeply cares about its students and faculty. Are we perfect? Certainly not, there is always room for improvement. However, I am not running with an agenda or coming to the table with a laundry list of items that I think we need to fix. What I believe to be the responsibility of a board member is to be abreast of the major issues that not only the district is facing but what others are facing within the state. I am conservative-minded, but I am also not a politician. One of the other major responsibilities of a board member is to hold the school superintendent accountable, establish and manage the school`s annual budget, and be a visionary while setting strategic goals along the way. I believe my past volunteer and professional experiences have allowed me to grow a skill set that will help in all of these areas.
Most importantly, I hope that you will give me a shot, because this is where my heart is and something that I want to do a really great job at. Please let me know if you have any questions. I would love to sit down, have a conversation, and listen to any concerns that you have for the school district. If I can promise anything, it`s that I will always listen and be open to any perspective while keeping the district`s best interest in mind.
I am grateful for your support and would be honored to earn your vote on April 2 for the Elgin School Board!
